Come gather all around and we'll sing you a song,
There ain't much to it and it won't take long;
Just a little something that's been on my mind,
Little wee story 'bout a big Cat Nine.

I was in the rock quarry the other day,
Nine-eighty-eight was there diggin' away;
She dug a little while and she had to stop,
Nine-eighty-eight struck solid rock.

She tried and tried in that big rock bed,
Jack he stopped her and he shook his head;
He said I guess this is one time,
We gotta call on the big Cat Nine.

It was just a moment when over the hill,
Came a great yellow monster we all knew well;
She was big and mighty and awful strong,
Shook the ground as she walked along.

There in the seat was a man named Bill,
He could handle that big Cat well;
But I felt nervous all the time,
Thought he might lose control of the big Cat Nine.

She spit black smoke as Bill pulled her in low,
Wheeled her around, to the rock did go;
That cat had worth, I'll not forget,
And tore that rock down bit by bit.

I was in the rock quarry the other day,
The boss came along, to me did say;
It's now lunch hour and I want you to fill,
All the machinery from the tanks on the hill.

As I looked around my heart felt blue,
There was holders and scrapers and pr's, too;
Then I seen her and my heart felt fine,
There in the lineup was the big Cat Nine.

When I climbed up aboard was then I found,
She looked a lot bigger than she did from the ground;
The blade in front and the ripper behind,
Couldn't see a thing on the big Cat Nine.

When Bill came out I said she's filled up tight,
She got enough a-diesel to last all night;
And Bill he smiled and he said that's fine,
He drove away with the big Cat Nine.

There's just one thing to keep in mind,
Only God can move mountains, and the big Cat Nine.
