It's an old fashioned Christmas
we're all wishing for,
Like the ones we had long years ago;
When friends would all gather
at the old one room school,
And the youngsters would put on a show.

An old Santa came in
with the bell that he rang,
And a gleam came to everyone's face;
There was laughter and joy
came to each girl and boy,
And love seemed to fill up the place.

When the jannies came in,
all hands had to grin,
At the rig-outs that every one wore;
There was long johns and rubbers,
And one left the buttons wide open
on the good old trap door.

There was one with a staff
and we all had a laugh,
At the flour sack drawers that he wore;
When they all left to go, Mom swept up the snow,
That had piled up on the old kitchen floor.

On an old fashioned Christmas
of long, long ago,
Sometimes seem so fresh in my mind;
With one gift for Christmas all Dad could afford,
I'd go back there any old time.

Now things are so different
than they were way back then,
When so little just meant so much more;
When a gift for a boy meant just some little toy,
But you knew it was special for sure.

I remember the ride when I got my first slide,
That was built out back in the shed;
And the time just flew by as the sun left the sky,
Now I look back at the fun that we had.

On an old fashioned Christmas
of long, long ago,
Sometimes seem so fresh in my mind;
With one gift for Christmas all Dad could afford,
I'd go back there any old time.

On an old fashioned Christmas
of long, long ago,
Sometimes seem so fresh in my mind;
With one gift for Christmas all Dad could afford,
Sure, I'd go back there any old time.
