Come listen to a story 'bout a man named Danny,
A big ol' millionaire who is really very canny;
He never spent a day out rootin' for his food,
But he's got a way of dealin'
with the boys who farm the crude.

Oil, that is, Newfie gold, good times ahead.

The first thing you know, we're full of millionaires,
Everybody says won't you move on over here;
Said Newfoundland and Labrador is the place to be,
Yes, come on down to this great land
and learn your ABCs.

To the Rock that is, anything but conservative,
look out Steve.

Danny and his crew said,
"Have not will be no more,"
There's gonna be a cadillac in front of every door;
Might be chicken in the pot, no fuel in the tank,
If every mother's son comes home
who we gonna thank?

The gods of oil that is, no more fish (maybe),
we're in the oil biz now.

We're gonna have more money
than the sheik of Microsoft®,
Can't see no one needin' a shed or fishing loft;
Soon enough 'the rock' will be
a piece of Danny ground,
He'll be takin' down the maple leaf
to turn it upside down.

Gotta new flag now, pink, white and green,
can't turn that upside down.

If Danny gets his way
we'll be out here on our own,
Even Ottawa will call and ask us for a loan;
We'll be rolling in the riches,
then what do you expect?
We're gonna buy Alberta and sell it to Quebec.

On the payment plan that is, I guess, boy,
Yeah, they need oil too,
gotta help those people out too, you know;
Get to be oil for hydro, see who wins this round,
Now y'all stay tuned now, ya hear?
You go get 'em, Danny.

Yeah, just go get 'em, Danny.

From Wikipedia:
Daniel E (Danny) Williams - Queen's Counsel and Member of the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly [born August 4, 1949] was the ninth Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, having served from November 6, 2003 to December 3, 2010. Before entering politics Williams, who was born and raised in St John's, NL, was a highly successful lawyer and businessman. Williams' premiership has been considered controversial outside of Newfoundland and Labrador, but he has continuously been ranked one of the most popular premiers in Canada, with approval ratings in the province consistently in the high seventies and eighties.
