Fisheries Council sent letters and
quotas to each fisherman,
While fleets of Japanese trawlers
dropped anchor off our Newfoundland;
We watched as our cod stocks depleted,
while Fisheries Council stood by,
And the coast guard enforcing their orders,
brought anger to fishermen's eyes.
Those Outport People
that Bud and Sim sang about,
Who knew only hard work and danger
was their way of life;
Sometimes isolated in winter when
the northeast storms take command,
They leave behind great disaster
to the outports of our Newfoundland.
Their only true means of survival
was making a living at sea,
But tradition that kept our spirit alive
will too soon become history.
Those Outport People
that Bud and Sim sang about,
Who knew only hard work and danger
was their way of life;
Sometimes isolated in winter when
the northeast storms take command,
They leave behind great disaster
to the outports of our Newfoundland.

was their way of life;

They leave behind great disaster
to the outports of our Newfoundland.
They leave behind great disaster
to the outports of our Newfoundland.
